At 3:15 today I received the sweetest call. For those of you who read Granddaughters, Life Lessons and Listing Appointments the election was held today, the votes were tallied and my granddaughter called to inform me she is now President of the Student Body of Vista Grande Elementary School in Rancho Palos Verdes.
Ahhh, if you don't succeed the first time, try, try again. She did, and this time her efforts were rewarded. She's no quitter and there's a life lesson here for everyone. Whether you are in fifth grade or your fifth decade, the ability to keep trying until you succeed is an admirable quality.
Sometimes success means we must work harder, prepare more thoroughly and risk failure in order to achieve our goals. If we do not take the chance, we will never know if we can pass the test.
It was a trying week in real estate with deferred listings and reluctant buyers, but this weekend I will hold two open houses, show another short sale, write an offer on a bank owned property and continue to fight the good fight. I'm a former teacher and I love a good test.

As a current teacher in CT, I couldn't agree more. The best thing is, it does not matter what area of life one is in, whether one is a student, or a teacher, or a realtor - if you keep trying, success will eventually come to you!
William - My granddaughter reinforced that valuable lesson for me with her second try.
Congrats on you granddaughters success. The life lesson there is priceless.
Simon - I'm glad she learned that lesson early in life.
Congratulations to your granddaughter on her new position. Sounds like she is a special little lady.
Bob & Carolin - She worked hard and I'm sure she will do a wonderful job. It was definitely a worthwhile learning experience for her.
Congrats to your granddaughter and to you! I am impressed with her willingness to try again. She is pretty young to learn that lesson and it will serve her well.
I also wanted to say that I love the new look of your blog (and your photo). It has been a little bit since I was on here!
Thank you Libby, and welcome back!
Norma, she'll be the goveratrix in no time at all!
Patricia - Knowing her, I'm sure she's already planning her next achievement--she's a girl with big plans. You would love to hear her play the cello.
