I found the current day living quarters in Egypt as interesting as the ancient pyramids. Check out the real estate in Egypt.

The construction methods sure look questionable! It makes me greatful for the codes and restrictions we have in our country.
Trisha, yes I'm sure their building codes differ from ours.
Oh my word, what awesome eye candy! This is such a treat for me. Very cool. Thank you for sharing. :-)
OMG, We're so fortunate!!!
Thank you for posting this eye opening blog!
This is now featured on The VACATION Group.
Mirela - Yes, we are fortunate and have so much more than we really need.
Hi Norma
Same type of housing concepts, far different lifestyle.
Good luck and success
Lou Ludwig
Lou - Shelter is shelter and after a few days it all begins to look normal.
Huiting -- You noticed all the laundry drying in the sun? It was everywhere and I liked the added interest it contributes to the photos.
WHen were you in Egypt? I loved the photos -- and could move right in to the country home in Memphis!
Alexsandra -- I was in Egypt last month for two weeks---a grand experience!
Norma, did I miss something? Are you in Egypt or just get back from there?
Gena - Just back from two life-enriching weeks. I'll post on the people and animals of Egypt sometime in the near future--after I finish my taxes......
It is amazing to see other parts of the world and how they live. It makes you realize how fortunate we are.
Norma, what totally fun photos! I love the house on the Nile! And the laundry hanging out the windows was great! They're being quite green!
One of the things I found most interesting was the pigeon houses on the roof of many of the homes---they allow the pigeons to roost on their roof, then select a plump bird for special occasion dinners. Now if only they would do that in St. Mark's Square.....
Thanks for the photos. I was in Egypt 6 years ago, when we returned to Cairo and Alexandria with our Mom... to her birthplace. She's Maltese and was born and raised in Cairo when the British occupied it. Was a stylish place to live in the 40's, much like NY. My Mom had been warned by her brother in England not to go back, so much has changed. However, she managed it, and the new view of Cairo's 20 million people in poverty... and we spent a lovely week in Alexandria on tour with a family we met years earlier in California. We are so very blessed to live in America.... One of their 4 sons (who is a US citizen) visited my Mom here in Lincoln last month. The Arabic people are so kind and generous. Elaine - I enjoyed the cruise down the Nile and seeing the pyramids was amazing--the camel ride was fun too. It was an incredible adventure.
I'm happy your mother was able to return to her birthplace.
