There's a rainbow in my office, and believe me there are days when I'm happy to see the colorful artwork taped to my filing cabinet. It reminds me to pause a moment and remember we are often rewarded in unexpected ways after a stormy day, gloomy news, grumpy clients or canceled deals.
My six year old granddaughter, Elizabeth, combined two of my favorite things--art and rainbows--and presented me with this exquisite watercolor with the brilliant colors of the rainbow in full bloom. It makes me smile (and maybe lowers my blood pressure a few points) every time I see it.
I'm a rainbow chaser and my family knows it. Last spring my son asked me to step outside the office and away from a troublesome issue to check out the sky. There was a huge rainbow commanding the sky. I still remember the joy and utter amazement at its sudden appearance after a spring shower. Just as quickly, the rainbow was gone and I returned to my desk--with a changed perspective. I closed the file and decided to be silent for the moment and respond to a demanding call the next day. Sure enough, there was an apologetic call the following day. The moment of silence, thanks to the rainbow, prevented the issue from escalating into a more stressful situation.
I like Elizabeth's rainbow because we cannot see the end of it--but I'm fairly certain there is no pot of gold at its end. It's my job to provide the 'gold' by finding golden deals for my buyers, providing golden service to my sellers and filling the pot at the end of my personal rainbow with the fruits of my labor.

I have a very sunny office and have a plastic rainbow generator which generates them all day. Super when on a very rainy day and we get that peak of sunlight which just happens to be in the right place. Sure gives joy on an otherwise gloomy day! Of cousre, yours is better since where it came from. cheers cvc
Norma,
Thank you for lending me Elizabeth's rainbow! Please tell her thank you! It's a beautiful rainbow and just looking at it gives me hope and it makes me happy!
Your son gives excellent advice. We all need to step outside, away from the issues that are troubling us every now and then. It does change our perspective!
Is there gold at the end of the rainbow? Well, I don't believe I'll ever find the "Pot of Gold," at the end of the rainbow, but I do like your idea about providing golden services to your clients.
Norma, you ARE an inspiration. I know where your son and your granddaughter gets it from!
I wish you continuous joy from all the rainbows in the sky and from the children in your life.
E-hugs,
Patricia
Curtis - How very cool, I've never seen a rainbow machine.
Patricia - And I know there will be many rainbows in your future--love your attitude.
Karen - I do have a life long love affair with words--thank you for your kind words.
Your granddaughter is a true artist, Norma. Look at those colors. There was a picture the others day of a double rainbow over London. They are truly amazing.
Jane - She is passionate about art and oftens shares her latest creations with me. She has an artist's eye--most children would draw the full rainbow in the sky, but she chose to focus on a small section. I love her style!
