The Olympics certainly give credence to the title quote. Last night as I watched the women skaters glide effortlessly across the ice, spin with dizzying speed and leap fearlessly into the air I thought of the hours of practice and sacrifice each endured to achieve her place on the ice. Lots of sweat, tears, hopefully not too much blood and uncountable hours were expended on their path to glory
The walk-away lesson is preparation and training is a prerequisite for success not only in athletic endeavors but also academic and career pursuits. In a fast changing world frequent re-tooling is a given. It may not be a new spin or jump, but it may be a new technological gadget that must be mastered and added to your bag of knowledge.
It is a rewarding feeling to know you are prepared and trained to face whatever battle comes your way. I prefer sweating to bleeding. How about you?

Absolutely! Practice makes perfect as they say....no one likes it until the moment it all pays off. I've been having fun watching the Olympics too. These athletes are inspiring!
Norma, I can tell by how you express your self and the content of your profile and blog that you are a true professional that continually invests in your self to keep your craft finely tuned. Great Realtors make it look easy just like olypians. It takes years to gracefully ice skate, leap and land flawlessly and they make it look so fun. Yet we know that it takes years of training, blood, sweat and tears to get to that point. In real estate there is a lot of preparation, a lot of reading, learning of law, handling of contracts, negotiation and sales techniques, marketing and publicizing strategies and not to mention market evaluation of a home and use of technology. It all comes with time, practice and a commitment to constantly learn and apply new skills.
Thanks for a great blog post!
Colleen - Big goals are achieved one day at a time. There was the cutest clip of Rachael Flatt skating at age three and now she's in the Olympics at age sixteen.
Lillian - You're welcome, and yes, expertise does not happen overnight for athletes or real estate professionals.
