If you're anything like me, the work week flies by and suddenly it is Friday. I'm often disappointed I did not accomplish everything my optimistic Monday morning mindset placed on my "to do" agenda for the week. The stack of paperwork seems to grow taller and the tasks I did not accomplish loom larger than those I completed. I learned a long time ago work is never done, especially in real estate. There is always one more call or email to send, a file that needs attention or leads to work.
In this age of blogs to write, Facebook friends to connect with, Twitter updates and Internet leads to follow up with, we can feel overworked, disconnected and spread way too thin to be effective in any compartment of our multi-faceted lives.
So what did I accomplish this week? I combined a working trip to the desert with a friend's birthday getaway. I treated her to dinner and hot air balloon ride (while I snapped aerial photos of my listings in Boitano Palms near La Quinta in the California desert). It was wonderful to have a couple of days together to catch up and reconnect. The hot air balloon ride was very cool too, well, actually it was pretty hot. Next time I will wear a baseball cap to reduce the heat from the overhead flame!
So in between the regular stuff that makes up a real estate day, week and career it is important (and fun) to weave in time with old friends, new clients and connect one-on-one from time to time.

Norma - connecting with friends, past clients is so important. Yesterday, I had coffee with a friend who also happens to be a designer. A few hours later, I took another friend out to lunch for her birthday. Internet is great but nothing can replace, real relationships. My friends and acquaintances are wonderful referral sources!

Which is why I eschewed the Facebook, Twitter, etc., and limit my online activities to Internet leads, my own web site network and ActiveRain.
There are only so many hours in a day.
Barbara - Too much time online leaves too little time for real life.
Betsy - During our two days together the topic of real estate came up several times--we even checked out a few open houses in the desert--she hopes to move there in the not so distant future.
Lenn - Smart move.
Networking is the best working...choosing your presence and doing some things well makes way more sense than spreading yourself too thin....agreed...blog on !
It is always important to take time out for friends and family. Great post
Good for you Norma. We sometimes forgot the face to face social networking is just as important as online social networking.
