I Used My Free Hour Today

Tonight we will bid adieu to Daylight Savings Time and fall back an hour as we welcome the return of Standard Time and darkness at 5 PM. I'll make the obligatory clock changes and enjoy my extended morning as I'll wake up on my body clock, not the one on my iPhone or nightstand. I must confess I made a practice run today. I slept in an extra delicious hour and told myself I was getting a head start on re-setting my body clock. I know it's only an hour, but it's surprising how such a small amount of time can upset our biorhythms. I once read the switch to Daylight Savings Time causes an increase in the number of heart attacks--Mother Nature is a tricky woman to mess with without suffering consequences.

Since I am a morning person, I plan to not eat lunch until 1:00 PM thereby adding an extra hour to my morning routine today. As an AM person I have always wondered how to extend my most productive hours--Eureka, I think I've found it! This may become a permanent part of my morning routine--late lunch but longer morning. My next challenge is to convince my mind to stay on Daylight Savings Time and rise early, but move my stomach to Standard Time and stretch my most productive hours of the day. ;)
