After completing a recent 31 day challenge to post a daily article on Active Rain I paused to wonder if all the recent contests, with points as a reward, are causing me to focus too much on points.  My goal from day one was to blog for business (and that's paying dividends), but after scouring the AR site on the hunt for yet another contest, I looked at the woman in the mirror and asked, "Are you becoming a point junkie?"

I rolled past 600,000 points in complete silence in an effort to revert to my original focus--the body of work I've created of nearly 1600 real estate articles. The catalyst for my re-birth was a call I received from a stranger.  She said, and I paraphrase here, "You're doing some great things with your blog and website.  It's very authentic." 

She went on to say she works in the business of website design and has read my blog since discovering it when her husband accepted a job in Los Angeles.  She and her children remain in another state but a family move is anticipated this summer.  I will help them find a home in Palos Verdes.

What a lovely reminder of why I blog.

At 5:15 this morning I booted up my computer to find several emails from far away clients.  That's the very cool thing about becoming an international agent--while I'm sleeping I'm still working, or at least my blogs and emails are out there in the world doing their global duty.  Yes, I work in "The Rain" both day and night.

The first email I opened was from Cape Town, South Africa.  A job relocation will soon bring this client to Los Angeles.  We've been corresponding since he found my Active Rain blog a few months ago. 

Next, I moved on to an email from Moscow (yes, as in Russia).  Again we met in "The Rain" and he will be opening a division of his company in Los Angeles later this year.  I regularly preview property for him and send him photos and written analysis on properties of interest.  He will relocate his family to LA later this year.

I was pleased to see an email from Shanghai, China as we are in escrow with a couple that splits their time between China and California.  Emails and documents fly through the clouds with the greatest of ease and make doing business half way around the world almost as simple as selling a home to a next door neighbor!  Distance, no matter how great, and time zones no longer present obstacles to selling a local property.

There were also emails from New York City and Miami and a few local ones too.  Judging from my in-box today is going to be filled with meeting the needs of clients from nearly every corner of the globe and my own back yard too!  Who needs sunshine?  I love working in "The Rain"!
